Custom-built home has unique built-in features at every turn. This house was built by Limey Kay, now a La Honda legend. He was a genius with brick and stone and built most of the chimneys and barbecues in town, easily identified by the trademark abalone shell embedded somewhere in the project. This is a classic La Honda house, and although now secure on a new foundation, does not have a flat floor or square corner anywhere! Definitely a house full of character.

This house has a unique layout. It is two stories which are not connected inside. It is set up much like a duplex. It cannot be used as two units due to limits of the septic system, but does make for interesting possiblilities. So you may use both units for whatever you want provided that use does not use more water than a single occupancy.

The upstairs has one bedroom, large closet with washer and dryer hookup, living room, kitchen, full bath and an extra room used as a dining room/office or extra bedroom. Obviously the living room has a fireplace. There is also a brick barbecue inside the dining room although I have never had the courage to use it.

The lower floor has one bedroom, a large living area with washer and dryer hookup, kitchen, full bath. Obviously the living room has a fireplace. There is also a gas fireplace in the bedroom. The lower level has 10 foot ceilings and lots of windows so is quite light and airy.

It is a very quiet and secluded location on a dead end street. La Honda is a great little town with an excellent elementary school, tennis courts, community swimming pool, hiking trails and a clubhouse. 20 minutes drive from I 280 at Palo Alto means a comfortable commute.

Rent is $1980/mo. Security deposit is 2 months. One or more year lease required. No smoking. Cats are OK, but the dog issue is a concern as there is no fenced yard, so your dog will have to be walked. DSL and cable available. Water is included in the rent (a $250/mo value). You pay gas and electricity. The heat, hot water and stove are all gas.
